Macroprudential Policies
& Homeownership

This paper analyzes how the introduction of macroprudential policies in the Swiss residential mortgage market in 2012 affected the propensity of households to become homeowners. We observe that the propensity to become homeowner has decreased after 2012. Moreover, we provide evidence that this decrease is, at least partly, due to the these policies.

Forecasting Swiss
Exports

Using up-to-date Time Series models, I forecast exports for an important Swiss industry. This project included a presentation of the results, frequent quarterly forecasting and assessment of the model. I was responsible for this project as a part of my internship at the CREA while writing my master thesis.

News Sentiment Index for Switzerland

Using text analysis and web scraping we create a News Sentiment Index based on articles published in Switzerland. Reserach has shown that News Sentiment correlates positively with GDP. Hence, this Index may serve as an early indicator for economic development.

Assisted suicide in Switzerland

Our study investigates older adults’ attitudes and behaviour towards assisted suicide, and the associations of these with the individuals’ sociodemographic and cultural characteristics, as well as with their own health status and healthcare-related experiences in Switzerland.

Text Analysis in R

As part of a Winter School at the University of Fribourg, we had to hand in a short project as an assignment. The aim of the project was to use various tools in text analysis on a given dataset to forecast a binary and continous outcome variable. I applied different Document-Term Matrix representations and employed various machine learning methods for forecasting.
